Improve your ELISA using PB1

PB1 is a well-tested formulation of buffers and salts designed to effectively balance the pH without disrupting antibody-sandwich ELISAs and antigen-down ELISA binding reactions.  Also use it as a base to create your own ELISA buffers or for other applications in the lab like dialyzing proteins and running samples over HPLC and Protein G columns.

ICT’s 10X Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS or PB1) is a well-tested formulation of buffers and salts designed to effectively balance the pH without disrupting ELISA binding reactions.
Also use it as a base to create your own ELISA buffers or for other applications in the lab like dialyzing proteins and running samples over HPLC and Protein G columns.

ICT's PB1 is supplied as a 10x concentrate to conserve valuable storage space. Simply add 9 parts deionized water to 1 part PBS, mix, and it’s ready to use. No pH adjustment is required.
After dilution, 1x PBS will suppress bacterial growth for up to 6 months at room temperature and 12 months at 2°-8°C. The concentrated buffer will suppress bacterial growth for at least 12 months at room temperature and 18 months at 2°-8°C.

How do I use PBS?

Simply dilute PB1 1:10 (for example, add 100mL PB1 to 900mL diH20 for a final volume of 1000mL), let the solution stir for 15 minutes.
As PB1 is concentrated, crystalline precipitates may form in the bottle, especially when refrigerated. If this happens, gently warm or mix the buffer until all crystals are dissolved. Do not let it boil.

PB1 is a great base!

ICT's PBS can help you:

  • Run cleaner HPLC and Protein G columns.  ICT's PBS is meticulously manufactured with the high quality ingredients to reduce contaminants.

  • Create your own ELISA buffers.  Use PB1 as a base for your own buffer formulations.

  • Decrease technician time to reduce costs.  By using ICT's ready-to-use reagents, you don't have to waste time preparing buffers.

  • Improve precision and reduce plate-to-plate variability.  Using ICT's stabilizing diluents, plates may be prepared in batches to be used over time, which increases consistency and provides improved plate-to-plate precision over extensive storage periods.

  • Increase assay reproducibility. By using consistent reagents from a reliable source, your ELISAs may become more reproducible.

  • Enhance signal-to-noise ratios for improved assay sensitivity.  ICT's ELISA reagents provide efficient plate coating and blocking, sample and conjugate dilution, and plate washing between incubation steps, which promote a strong signal while minimizing the nonspecific signal (noise), thus improving assay sensitivity.
