FLIVO® Kits

In vivo apoptosis detection tracers

Our proprietary in vivo apoptosis detection technology, FLIVO™, is a powerful tool for in vivo apoptosis detection in living animal models. Our fluorescent in vivo apoptosis detection tracers are non-toxic, cell-permeant reagents that specifically label apoptotic cells in vivo for analysis with fluorescence detection methods. The FLIVO tracer technology is based on a common caspase-inhibitor peptide sequence, VAD, and a fluoromethylketone moiety that form covalent bonds to intracellular active caspase enzymes involved in programmed cell death. The FLIVO apoptosis assays have been successfully used in a range of animal models to assess apoptosis as a result of a treatment or biological condition.

FLIVO™ tracers are available with visible fluorescence labels and near-infrared fluorescence labels. Our visible fluorescence FAM-FLIVO and SR-FLIVO in vivo apoptosis tracers utilize carboxyfluorescein (FAM) or sulforhodamine-B labels, respectively, for in vivo apoptosis labeling and ex vivo analysis of histological samples via optical imaging or flow cytometry. Our new NIR-FLIVO™ in vivo apoptosis tracers and free dye controls utilize the near-infrared fluorescent labels DyLight® 690 and DyLight® 747 for noninvasive in vivo imaging and apoptosis detection with small animal imaging systems.
