AACC is offering a complimentary webinar titled "The Impact of COVID-19 on Kidney Health" - September 16, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EST.

Register for this live webinar to learn about the importance of urinalysis in screening for kidney health. During this hour you will have the opportunity to engage in live Q&A with faculty. With your registration, you will have access to the recording on demand through September 30, 2022.

DESCRIPTION

During the pandemic, routine testing has been disrupted, but urinalysis is important in screening for kidney health. Point-of-care urinalysis plays a pivotal role in the screening and early detection of kidney damage. Dr. Nadkarni and Nancy Brunzel share their expertise in screening for chronic kidney disease pre- and post-pandemic. Nancy Brunzel, assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, is the author of Fundamentals of Urine and Body Fluid Analysis, covering the collection and analysis of urine and other body fluids. Ms. Brunzel will share her extensive knowledge and expertise in the field by presenting the background of urinalysis, policies and procedures, technology used for urinalysis, and defining urinalysis’ many uses. This presentation will cover the importance of screening for chronic kidney disease and how urinalysis can be used for such screening. Dr. Girish Nadkarni is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, The Mount Sinai Hospital; clinical director of the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health; and co-director of the Mount Sinai COVID Informatics Center. Dr. Nadkarni and team developed and executed a retrospective, observational study that reviewed data from electronic health records of patients aged 18 years or older with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 admitted to the Mount Sinai Health System. He will present his findings from this study and best practices for screening for CKD and AKI in COVID-19 patients.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for point of care coordinators, nurses (especially nephrology nurses and technicians), physicians, nephrologists, urologists, endocrinologists, clinicians, patients, providers, researchers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Identify how urinalysis has been used in screening for CKD and AKI in patients who may or may not have contracted COVID-19.
  • Explain the role of urinalysis in kidney health to predict COVID-19 severity.
Again, we're very excited to be exhibiting at AACC and would love to see you! Don't forget to schedule a meeting with us and visit us at Booth 3017.
